Have you done any Twitter or Facebook games lately?
Some of the games on Facebook have over 10 000 000 users a month.
This could mean big money for the marketing people on consumer product companies. I strongly believe that they haven’t really understood the potential yet. Why not build a FB or Twitter game strongly associated to the brand. And utilize on the possibilities to connect the experience online to the physical product. Why don’t take 5% of the usual Media budget and invest in a game.

There are a lot of things you could do with these channels to build branding and create sales.
